![]() Remember, thumbnails are small and there are usually a lot of them on the screen at any one time. We’re willing to be that you’ve seen online videos make this tragic mistake before: white text on a light background or black text on a dark background. Stills are great for thumbnails because they give quick snapshots of what viewers will find in your video, without you having to create a new image from scratch. You should also try to shorten your title to just a few short words, or if possible, simply use a still image with a logo. To make sure you keep your thumbnail simple, avoid adding the entire title of your video to the image - remember that the title will appear right next to your thumbnail anyway. Ultimately, anything in a thumbnail that’s difficult to see or understand is a waste of valuable thumbnail real estate. With that in mind, try not to add too much text to your thumbnails, or text that’s so small it’s hard to read. In fact, as of November 2022, almost 90% of worldwide YouTube visits were made from mobile devices. ![]() And they’re even smaller when they’re viewed on a mobile device, which is extremely common since YouTube is often watched on mobile phones. YouTube Thumbnail Best Practices Keep it simpleīe concise! YouTube thumbnails are small. Of course, having a good thumbnail is one thing, but you still need to make sure you have a great video behind it. While an eye-catching image can draw people in, they’re more likely to scroll past boring or blurry thumbnails.Įnsuring your video thumbnails are better than those of other content creators will make your videos more likely to win video clicks on YouTube and other search engines - which is vital to building a YouTube audience. People’s decisions on whether or not to click a video will often depend on the thumbnail. They originally got their name from being about the size of a human thumbnail, and in the world of online video, YouTube thumbnails are a bit like book covers. Thumbnails are small versions of images or videos that give a visual preview of what’s inside the file. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the exact size your YouTube thumbnail should be and go over some best practices for creating your own thumbnails - but first, what exactly is a thumbnail? What are Thumbnails? Thumbnails draw the attention of potential viewers and help them decide which video they should watch - hopefully yours! Whether it’s a learning video, a product demo, or a video podcast, your video’s thumbnail is just as important as its title when it comes to attracting views. We’ve put together our Ultimate Guide for 2020 which takes a closer look at the social media video ad sizes you need to know, covering every major platform and the various ad formats that each offers. Are you looking to get more views on your YouTube videos? While you may want to consider finding new ways to promote your content, there is one really easy and effective solution to getting more clicks: improving your video thumbnails. Research has shown that Facebook video ads, for example, are favoured 67% more than image ads while on Twitter, video can lead to your post being shared six times more than a static image! Video has quickly evolved from being a “nice to have” to an absolutely critical part of any digital strategy and is proven to help raise your engagement and keep audience’s attention on your brand. No matter which platform you use, there is no better way than to use video ads to stay engaged with consumers and attract new business. Understanding these specifications can transform your digital marketing strategy and help you to continue to provide your followers with the very best content you can. Whilst there is some cross over, it can be a bit of a minefield (or total pain in the ass) for both marketers and brands to keep up with. Like everything on social media though, these exact specifications change frequently to stay up to date with changing user demands. Each platform has its own recommended dimensions. ![]() However, if you’re creating a video for social media, then sadly there is no one uniform specification. Why can’t all of the platforms just be the same?! It would certainly make our job easier… Six years later, in that timeframe, Capcom did the opposite with Resident Evil 7 - which has now sold over 10 million copies, making it one of the most popular games in the franchise. To make matters worse, I get the impression they also didn’t want to scare away newcomers on a new system and toned the scare factor right down. This is all speculation on my part, but Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water comes off like a game that had some incredible artists with cool ideas for this setting and the Wii U tablet, but they couldn’t quite figure out a cohesive story to tell. Also, all the censorship from the original western release is still in-tact as well, so if you’re looking for a “sexy outfit” fix, you’ll have to make do with the new ones, I guess. I’m sure some folks out there will love that stuff, but it only ever kept my attention for a few minutes at most. There’s also a photo mode that lets you place different ghosts in the environment and toggle various poses for a fun diorama display. Honestly, though, with the amount of healing items your characters have on hand, you’ll rarely be in any real danger in Maiden of Black Water. To be effective at combat, all you need to master is your timing with dodges (pressing X right before an attack) and keeping a reasonable distance from the ghosts between lining up good shots. The reality is if these characters could move at a brisk pace, it’d make dealing with the ghosts even more trivial than it already is. Funny enough, that’s pretty much the only semblance of challenge the game has going for it. ![]() However, the character movement is still painfully slow and incredibly clunky in tighter interior areas. It can still be unwieldy at times, but thankfully, you can also use analog controls if you prefer that. On the DualSense controller with gyro controls, it works well enough. ![]() Admittedly, it’s a brilliant shooting system that seemed perfect for the Wii U GamePad. Once again, you deal with ghoulish spirits by getting them in the frame, letting them get dangerously close, and dishing out big damage with fatal frames. |
